I have been studying the rich archive of knowledge,
wisdom, and resistance embodied in Ghanaian Adinkra
symbols, whose history of migration mirrors that of my
family. I’ve been gently abstracting and tracing these
forms, folding them into printed garments, drawings,
and artist books, using both physical and digital
materials, as a means of commenting on their migration
and adoption in Caribbean architecture, art, literature,
and the ways they’ve been co-opted to connect with a
greater pan-African
past.
