Xerography-Processed Adinkra Sampler
, 22-page artist book and zine, includes a symbol glossary (slide 2), 9.75 x 7 in. (closed), 2025.

I have been studying the rich archive of knowledge, wisdom, and resistance embodied in Ghanaian Adinkra symbols, whose history of migration mirrors that of my family. I’ve been gently abstracting and tracing these forms, folding them into printed garments, drawings, and artist books, using both physical and digital materials, as a means of commenting on their migration and adoption in Caribbean architecture, art, literature, and the ways they’ve been co-opted to connect with a greater pan-African past.

I sell the sunlight to support the substance, open-edition of monoprint cyanotype shirts and sand-printed pants, all printed on cotton, 2024-present.

Available for purchase in the shop. The text on the shirts is informed by the postcards that abolitionist Sojourner Truth sold, which featured the motto “I Sell the Shadow to Support the Substance,” to fund her cause.  Each sale funds my research and printmaking practice.

2. Protection Heart, cyanotype on paper, sunlight, 2024.

artist note: I do really feel like any wrought-iron-informed drawing I do is a spiritual working through. When printed on clothing, it’s meant to be armor or protection. It’s also the ideal vehicle of exhibition…meant to be seen in the world, not just a room.
